BioTE® uses tiny, compounded pellets implanted just beneath the skin releasing hormones steadily in a way that mirrors the body's own delivery mechanism.

A pellet the size of a grain of rice

Inserted just under the skin in a brief, in-office procedure, the pellet will deliver estrogen and/or testosterone in a bio-identical form, matched to your specific lab values.

What makes BioTE® different from other hormone therapies?

BioTE® uses bio-identical hormones — meaning they are molecularly identical to those your body produces — rather than synthetic substitutes. The pellet delivery method also provides steady, consistent levels rather than the peaks and troughs common with pills, patches, or creams.

What does the insertion procedure involve?

Pellet insertion is a brief, in-office procedure. A small area near the upper buttock is numbed with local anesthetic and the pellet is placed just beneath the skin through a tiny incision. The whole process typically takes about 15 minutes. Most patients resume normal activity immediately.

How long until I feel a difference?

Most patients begin noticing improvement within two to four weeks. Full benefit often develops over the first few months as your body reaches optimal hormone balance. Follow-up labs help us confirm that levels are where they should be.

How often do pellets need to be replaced?

Pellets are typically replaced every three to five months for women, depending on how quickly your body absorbs them. Your provider will schedule follow-up labs to guide the timing and dosing of each subsequent insertion.

Is BioTE® covered by insurance?

BioTE® hormone therapy is not covered by insurance and is considered an elective treatment. Our team can walk you through the costs during your consultation so you have a complete picture before committing to treatment. BioTE® nutraceuticals may be FSA eligible.

Do I need labs before starting?

Yes. A comprehensive hormone panel is required before your first insertion. This is how we determine the precise compounded dosage appropriate for your physiology. We'll order labs at your initial consultation and use those results to create your individualized plan.
