When you’re choosing where to have your baby, you’re making one of the most important decisions of your life. We understand that trust doesn’t come easily—it’s earned through consistent care, genuine expertise, and showing up for our patients when it matters most.
We don’t claim to be perfect, but we do promise to be present, prepared, and committed to you and your baby throughout your entire pregnancy journey. Here’s what we believe sets us apart.
Experience That Comes From Showing Up
Our OB team has collectively attended hundreds of thousands of deliveries—from straightforward births to complex situations that required quick thinking and collaboration. That experience matters, not because we want to impress you with numbers, but because it means we’ve seen a lot. We know what normal looks like, and we know when something needs our immediate attention.
But experience alone isn’t enough. We stay current through continuing education, medical conferences, and reviewing the latest research. Medicine evolves, and we evolve with it—because your care deserves our best, most informed effort.
We Know You Before You Go Into Labor
One of the things our patients tell us they value most is continuity of care. We’ve been with you since those early prenatal visits—learning about your health history, answering your questions, monitoring your baby’s growth, and understanding what matters to you.
When you walk into the labor and delivery unit, you’re walking in to see familiar faces. We already know your birth plan, your concerns, your hopes. We’ve built a relationship with you over months, and that foundation of trust makes all the difference when things get intense.
We Listen To You
When you say something doesn’t feel right, we listen. When you’re in pain, we take it seriously. When you have questions or concerns—even if you think they might be “silly”—we want to hear them. Your instincts about your body and your baby matter deeply to us.
Too many women have stories of feeling dismissed or not heard during their pregnancies. We can’t promise we’ll never make mistakes, but we can promise we’ll always try to listen with open minds and take your concerns seriously.
Your Birth Plan Is Your Roadmap (Even When the Journey Changes)
We encourage all our patients to think through their birth preferences. Do you want an epidural? Are you hoping to avoid one? What matters most to you during labor? Who do you want in the room?
Your birth plan helps us understand your priorities and preferences. We’ll do everything we can to honor what you want—but we also know that birth can be unpredictable. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, and when that happens, we’ll explain what’s happening, why we’re recommending changes, and include you in every decision we possibly can.
Your safety and your baby’s safety always guide us.
Our Team Approach Means You're Never Alone
Labor and delivery isn’t a solo sport—it takes a whole team. When you deliver with us, you have:
- Your OB provider who’s been with you throughout your pregnancy
- Experienced labor and delivery nurses who are with you continuously
- Anesthesiologists available 24/7 for pain management
- Pediatricians ready if baby needs extra attention
- Lactation consultants to help with those crucial first feedings
We discuss your care, share observations, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. You get the benefit of multiple trained minds working together for you and your baby.
We're Prepared for Complications (But Hope You Never Need That)
Most deliveries go smoothly, and we hope yours does too. But part of our job is being prepared for the unexpected.
Our providers are trained to handle complications quickly and calmly—from shoulder dystocia to postpartum hemorrhage to emergency C-sections. We run through scenarios, practice protocols, and maintain our skills so that if something urgent happens, we’re ready.
We have immediate access to operating rooms, blood products, and NICU services if needed. We’re not sharing this to scare you—most of you will never need these things. But if you do, we want you to know we’re prepared.
We're Part of Your Community
We’re not just your OB providers—we’re your neighbors here in Tallahassee. We see our patients at the grocery store, at local parks, at community events. Your family’s health is personal to us because we’re part of the same community.
When our patients do well, our whole community thrives. We’re invested in your long-term health and your family’s wellbeing, not just your nine months of pregnancy.
It's Your Decision
Ultimately, where you deliver your baby is your choice, and it should be. We hope that if you choose NFLWC, it’s because you feel comfortable with our team, trust our expertise, and believe we’ll be there for you when it matters most.
